The entire route is 53 km long, of which two sections are under preparation for investment, one section has been approved but not yet constructed due to lack of funding, and five sections are under construction or already open to traffic.
Hanoi’s Ring Road 3.5 is approximately 53 km long and 42-80 m wide, running from Ngoc Hoi Bridge to Thuong Cat Bridge, passing through many major roads such as Phap Van, Xa La – Thanh Ha, the Southern axis, National Highway 6, Thang Long Boulevard, and National Highway 32. The project consists of 9 sections, some of which are under preparation for investment or not yet constructed due to lack of funding, while the rest are under construction or already in operation.
Currently, Hanoi has completed about 15 km, but it is not yet fully open because the interchange with Thang Long Boulevard is not yet complete.
On the afternoon of April 27th, the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee inspected the project and requested that obstacles be removed to ensure the entire route is completed.
The project for the intersection between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard, including a closed tunnel, an open tunnel, and elevated turbine-style branch bridges, has a total investment of over 2,380 billion VND and is scheduled to commence in April 2025.
The tunnel is 975 meters long with 4 lanes. The branch bridge system has a total length of over 2.3 km, ensuring traffic flow separation and minimizing traffic conflicts.
After more than a year since its commencement, the interchange project between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard is gradually taking shape. The contractor is simultaneously constructing various components such as enclosed tunnels, open tunnels, reinforced concrete retaining walls, roadbeds, drainage systems, lighting, and temporary traffic infrastructure.
The bridge piers, turbine-shaped bridge sections, and roundabout access roads continue to be constructed, with some piers and bridge spans already completed.
The underpass project is currently under construction, with open tunnel sections being built from the Hoang Tung Street side. The tunnel is 975 meters long and 18.5 meters wide.
The section from Thuong Cat Bridge to National Highway 32, approximately 3.5 km long, is currently under construction and land clearance is underway, but it is not yet complete. The total investment for this section is estimated at 1,495 billion VND from the Hanoi City budget.
This section of the road has a cross-section of 60 meters and intersects with National Highway 32 in the Lai Xa industrial cluster area, awaiting land clearance.
The Thuong Cat Bridge, spanning the Red River, along with its approach roads at both ends, has a total length of over 5 km and a scale of 8 lanes. Construction is progressing rapidly. The contractor is currently focusing on drilling pile foundations for the main piers and approach bridge piles. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
This project has a total investment of over 7,300 billion VND, connecting Thuong Cat ward and ending at National Highway 23B, the section passing through Thien Loc commune, Hanoi.
The Ngoc Hoi Bridge and its approach roads, approximately 7.5 km long, are part of Hanoi’s Ring Road 3.5 and are being constructed at an accelerated pace. The project connects Hanoi with Hung Yen, with a 5.2 km section through Hanoi and approximately 2.3 km through Hung Yen.
The starting point is on Ring Road 3.5, about 360 m from the Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway towards the Right Bank of the Red River; the end point is about 700 m from the Left Bank of the Red River towards the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway, passing through Van Giang and Phung Cong (Hung Yen).
The section from the Southern arterial road interchange to the Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway has been approved but not yet implemented due to a lack of funding. This section has a total investment of over 684 billion VND and requires land acquisition of 282,634 m2.
